Participants are invited to attend a pre-workshop networking session from 5-7pm on the evening prior to the workshop at CQ Hotel. Drinks and finger food will be available

The leadership forum will consist of two parts.
Part One - Health and Safety Due Diligence Obligations
The morning session from 9am -12.15pm will focus on successful Governance under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 , Meeting the primary Duty of Care and Due Diligence Obligations.
Part Two - Strategic Approaches to DSS Planning and Funding
The Afternoon Session from 1.30pm to 3.30pm will focus on Strategic approaches to DSS planning and funding. Ministry officials and participants will examine the strategic environment and the ways in which the Ministry and Providers can work together on service design and development as change is implemented to improve outcomes for disabled people and families.
Speaker Profile
The morning session will be facilitated by Dave Griffith and Bruce Mackay (HR Development and Training Ltd) . Dave has had many years of management experience in the retail and service industry sectors before moving into human resource management. He brings a practical perspective with a focus on developing staff, improving productivity and keeping everyone safe.
Bruce specialises in Health and Safety by using his experience in commerce and rehabilitation to help businesses advance with healthy, confident workers. He has worked with a range of organisations from hospitals, ACC, the disability sector and churches.
The afternoon Session will be facilitated by Ministry Officials from the MOH.
Workshop Outcomes
Morning Session: Participants will understand
- The key components of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015
- Their responsibilities and liabilities under the primary duty of care and due diligence obligations
- Ways to set up monitoring and achieve personal verification requirements
Afternoon Session : Participants will understand
- The strategic environment in which they work
- The need to think strategically in a changing environment
- The ways in which they can work more collaboratively with the Ministry of Health to implement change and improve outcomes for disabled people and families
