Universal design is a way of designing the spaces around us to be used and enjoyed by all people. Like a great concert experience, universal design is seamless. A large team of people work closely together behind the scenes to ensure everyone can enjoy the experience - the sights, the sounds, the overall feeling.

This symposium will showcase the diversity of universal design including public buildings and shared spaces, workplaces, housing, and transport. How do we work together to put people at centre stage in the design process?
Come and be inspired by Valerie Fletcher from the Institute for Human Centered Design in Boston, who will highlight the importance of people in design. We will also hear from some big names in this field including Auckland Design Office, Auckland Transport, Be. Accessible, The Blind Foundation, Boffa Miskell, Lifemark, Moller Architects, Te Roopu Waiora Trust and Dr Zena O'Connor.
Plus join in one of the several city tours taking place with special focus Activate Auckland, Design for Safety, The Heritage Trail, Māori Design, Shared Spaces and Universal Design.
Whether you are an architect, designer, developer or someone interested in planning and designing spaces that work for all people, this symposium will entertain and inform you. We have your backstage pass waiting!
Symposium Attendance Fee: $152.62 (including GST and convenience fee)
